Who we are

Better data. Better decisions. Better events.

PartyTrends is a team of researchers, analysts, data scientists and engineers building one of the most comprehensive trend intelligence platforms in South Africa — mapping the events economy and surfacing what's happening long before everyone else sees it.

We replace guesswork with evidence

We exist for one reason: to understand, measure and forecast the trends shaping the future of celebrations, events, weddings, venues, entertainment and party suppliers across South Africa.

The events industry is constantly evolving. Consumer preferences change. Party themes rise and fall. Music trends shift. Food trends emerge. Drinks go in and out of fashion. Entertainment evolves. Costs climb. New technologies appear. What was popular five years ago may be largely irrelevant today.

Yet despite being a multi-billion rand industry, surprisingly little reliable data exists to help businesses understand these changes. Most decisions in this market are still made on gut feel, last season's anecdotes and whatever a competitor seems to be doing.

That is why PartyTrends was created — and why we have built the infrastructure to gather intelligence at a scale almost nobody else in this market attempts. We pull from Google, big data systems, large-scale scraping, polling and live behavioural signals, then fuse them into a single, continuously updated view of how South Africa celebrates.

The result is a picture of the market that is clearer, deeper and earlier than anything that existed before — and we make the core of it free for anyone to quote, embed and build on.

Our mission: to keep our finger on the pulse of South African party trends — so businesses can make smarter decisions, journalists can publish credible facts, and consumers can celebrate better.

How we gather intelligence

We don't rely on a single feed. We fuse Google data, big data analytics, large-scale web scraping, live polling and behavioural signals into one constantly refreshed picture of the market.

Source

Google data & the Google API

We pull live and historical search demand straight from Google through the Google API. Just as importantly, we archive Google historic data — trend records that have since aged out of the public APIs and can no longer be retrieved anywhere else — because we believe that history is extraordinarily valuable and irreplaceable.

Source

Big data analytics

Millions upon millions of individual data points are ingested, cleaned, de-duplicated, correlated and modelled. At that scale, patterns appear that are simply invisible in small samples — the difference between an opinion and a measurable trend.

A 24/7 AWS server farm

Our scraping infrastructure runs on a multi-node server farm hosted in AWS, harvesting data around the clock, every day of the year. The workload is so relentless that we routinely burn out hard drives keeping up with the volume of data we collect and store.

Source

Polls & sister sites

We run live polls and aggregate signals from millions of nodes and a network of sister websites. Real audience responses — not assumptions — are turned into structured, queryable intelligence that feeds every report we publish.

Source

Behavioural signals

We read consumer behaviour across the open web: search behaviour, installed Chrome applications, Bing searches, DuckDuckGo searches, and engagement patterns across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Behaviour reveals intent long before a purchase happens.

Source

The long tail of platforms

We don't stop at the giants. We also track lesser-known platforms — FreeTube, Rumble, Vimeo, Nebula and Dailymotion — with a particular focus on Rumble and YouTube behaviour, where emerging audiences and niche trends often surface first.

Scraping at industrial scale

Most "trend" reports are built on a handful of sources. Ours are built on an always-on data harvesting operation engineered to collect, store and protect data at a scale that is genuinely expensive to run.

Behind PartyTrends sits a fleet of machines on AWS, distributed across multiple nodes, scraping continuously — 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They gather millions and millions of data points from search engines, social platforms, retailers, public datasets and our network of sister sites.

That kind of sustained read-write punishes hardware. We push our storage so hard that frying hard drives has become a normal cost of doing business — the physical price of capturing a market in this much detail.

We treat data as an appreciating asset. Search demand, pricing and behavioural signals are time-stamped and stored permanently, which means we can reconstruct what South Africa was searching for, planning and paying years ago — including Google historic data that is no longer available through any public API.

Every signal is then cross-referenced against the others. Polls validate search trends. Pricing data grounds sentiment. Behavioural signals confirm intent. No single source decides a finding — the combination does.

Free to use. All we ask is a citation.

We believe the information we provide for free — and the market research behind it — is worth millions. We give it away anyway, because good data should fuel better content and smarter decisions.

You are welcome to use this information in your news articles, blog posts, YouTube videos, podcasts, reports, presentations and all other media. Please embed our charts wherever they help tell the story.

Embed our charts and you'll earn citations and backlinks too — it genuinely works both ways. The more our data travels, the more value it creates for everyone using it.

All we ask

Two simple things

  • 1.Include PartyTrends on your references / citations list.
  • 2.Add a link back to our site.
Stats are the lifeblood of content. Without statistics, your content is just opinion. With statistics, it becomes factual — far more than an opinion piece. That's exactly why we make our data so easy to cite, quote and embed.

We don't just describe the data

Anyone can list numbers. Our objective is to find the story behind them — the patterns, contradictions and early signals that turn raw data into genuine intelligence.

We look for

Hidden patterns

Unexpected relationships and correlations buried inside large-scale datasets.

We look for

Contradictions

Where the data disagrees with conventional wisdom — and what that reveals.

We look for

Behaviour shifts

Consumer behaviour changes and cultural shifts as they begin to take hold.

We look for

Economic signals

Affordability, spending and confidence signals reading through the noise.

We look for

Emerging opportunities

Early-warning indicators and openings before the rest of the market reacts.

We look for

Future trends

Predictive indicators of where demand, prices and tastes are heading next.

We look for

Market disruptions

Province-specific behaviours and the forces reshaping each region.

We look for

Winners & losers

Which categories, suppliers and ideas are rising — and which are fading.

The benchmark we hold ourselves to: research that feels closer to Bloomberg Intelligence, McKinsey, Statista, Gartner, Nielsen, Ipsos, Euromonitor and Google Trends than a traditional blog article. Always the story behind the data — not merely the numbers themselves.

Data first. Evidence first. Integrity first.
